The Emir of Potiskum in Yobe State, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya has conferred the Chieftaincy title of Zanna Bara Pataskum meaning King of the Forest on the Commander General of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin.
On the occasion at the Emir’s palace and witnessed by thousands of excited residents, the Emir said the move was in recognition of his efforts in combating banditry, boko haram, kidnapping, terrorism and other criminality in forests across Yobe and other Northern States as well as Nigeria in general.
The Emir who described the activities of NHFSS as very vital to securing Nigerians most especially now that the country is been confronted with challenges of security appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ascent to NHFSS Bill before him towards realizing his renewed hope agenda for Nigerians in the area of security.
“This prestigious title is a testament to Amb. Joshua Osatimehin’s exemplary leadership and dedication to the protection of the forest and its inhabitants and the title is not only to honour him but also serve as a recognition of the important role played by the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service in safeguarding the nation’s forests and their inhabitants” He stated..
According to the Emir,, the recognition is a testament to Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin’s dedication and commitment to the preservation of the natural environment and the protection of lives and property of Nigerians.
. “It is a well-deserved honour that highlights their significant contributions to the security of the country’s forests through effective collaboration with formal security agencies nationwide.
The Emir therefore called on State and Local Governments to effectively support and collaborate with NHFSS in their various States and Local Governments to safeguarding lives and property of their people and rid forests in their areas from criminal activities.
Responding, the Commander General of NHFSS, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin dedicated the Chieftaincy title to the Officers and Men of the Service.
While thanking the Emir for the honour, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin pledged the commitment of the NHFSS in complimenting the efforts of the Nigeria Police, the Nigerian Army, the DSS and other security agencies towards achieving President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the overall security of the country.
He stressed the need for all Nigerians to always support Government’s efforts towards safeguarding lives and property in country to enhance national peace and development.
