Concern Professionals In Nass Commends Senate President Over New Appointments Cancelation

The Concern Professionals in the National Assembly has commended Senate President, Godswill Akpabio over the total cancelation of the new appointments made by the National Assembly Service Commission

Like what the Senate President said the appointments did not follow the due process especially in the area of competence and that the process did not follow the law established by the competent body.

Akpabio was said to have instructed the commission to ensure that all new appointments adhere to the principles of competence, seniority, and federal character.

In a release signed by the leader of the Simon Okechukwu said that the
move aims at promoting transparency and fairness in the commission’s appointment processes

The group however, urged Patrick Giwa Committee on Establishment created by the Senate President to look in the process to go through documents and files of individuals before recommending them for any appointments.

The role of the Establishment Committee will play a crucial role in ensuring that appointments and promotions within the National Assembly management are guided by the principles of seniority, competence, and federal character balance.

The Concern Group urged the committee to receive as many petitions as possible from individuals and groups which will make their job easy.

Those who are not competent. The group maintained are going about with huge money to ensure they got what they wanted , just as they did before the cancelation.

The group believes much in the competence, Mr Giwa who was the former Clerk of the House of Representatives before his appointment as one of the commissioners in the National Assembly Service Commission .

The body was specific on the promotion of the senior officer in the engineering section which they ought to have missed two steps before any promotion can be given but in the National Assembly some individuals believed that this be overlooked.

It would be recalled that National Assembly Service Commission made seven appointments three in the House of Representatives and four the management and all were canceled by the Senate President saying that due process federal character and competence were not followed
