Abimbola Atanda from Oyo state, South West-
Dr Ogbona disclosed that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for the National Convention scheduled to hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference center Abuja while the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, have been duly briefed in acordance with the 2026 Electoral Act
He said that the Committee had thoroughly gone through the credentials and documents brought before the Party and satisfied to be qualified for the President of the country in all ramifications
Speaking with news men after the exercise,, the Presidential Aspirant Hon Abimbola Atan said that he was fully prepared for the nation’s number position
He spoke on his agenda for resolving the lingering security challenges, saying that
the Federal Government can convinently tackle insecurity with a national database and stronger community policing.
He pointed out that if achieved could build a safer society for everyone.when asked what he would do differently in terms of security
Atanda who highlighted the importance of community policing. pointed to countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, and France, where community policing has helped citizens and law enforcement work closely together.
He explained that security becomes stronger when neighbors know one another and can safely report suspicious activities without fear.
According to him, “For example, if someone committed a crime in Ibadan and later moved to Lagos to repeat the same offence, authorities would already have access to the individual’s criminal history”
He stated that such a system would not only improve security but also encourage accountability, as people would become more careful about their actions knowing that their records could affect job opportunities and public trust.
SDP had pegged its presidential nomination form at ₦75 million (₦15 million for the Expression of Interest form and ₦60 million for the Nomination form.
The party also offers a 50% discount on nomination forms for female aspirants and youths.
Atanda explained that his inspiration came from Emmanuel Macron, who once contested against older and more experienced politicians in France without fear.
According to him, leadership is not about age or power but about ideas, vision, and what one can offer the people.
He stressed that he respected leaders and elders regardless of political party or background.
