COVID-19: FUOYE shuts down campus

Authorities of The Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) have ordered closure of the institution from March 23, 2020 over the spread of coronavirus.

The Federal Government had ordered the shutdown of all tertiary institutions nationwide to curtail the spread of coronavirus.

24 hours after the order, the National Universities Commission instructed universities to close for a month beginning from March 23, 2020.

A memo circulated to all members of staff and students signed by FUOYE Acting Registrar, Mufutau A Ibrahim, said: “In the light of the Federal Government’s directive and evolving reality of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the University Management at its meeting held on Friday, 20th March, 2020 directed the closure of the university with effect from Monday, 23rd March, 2020”

It added: “The management also directed all students to vacate their Halls of Residence and the University’s premises immediately , while staff are to stay at home with effect from Monday, 23rd March ,2020 until further notice.
