Wife of Bauchi State Governor, Hajiya Aisha Lami Bala Mohammed has been turbaned as the first Sarauniyar (Queen) Bauchi by the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu.
Speaking at the occasion while performing the official and traditional turbaning in his Palace Weekend, the Emir said that the title was conferred on her based on her humanitarian efforts even before the election of her husband as the Governor of Bauchi State.
He also mentioned that the honour was in recognition of the outstanding contributions of the first lady towards the well-being of women and children, particularly the vulnerable groups in the society.
The Emir added that the exemplary leadership traits coupled with her humility were part of the things considered by the Emirate Council while conferring the title on her with the belief that it will ginger her to do more for the people of Bauchi State.
Adamu who is also the chairman of the state Traditional Council enjoined the new Sarauniyar Bauchi to consider the opportunity as challenge to redouble efforts at assisting women with various empowerment programmes. “

“After wider consultation with critical stakeholders, Bauchi Emirate Council found you worthy of this important title, we know that, giving you this is like giving to the entire women of Bauchi state.”.
He also told the gathering that the traditional title was conferred on her due to her philanthropic gestures to the less privileged in the state through her foundation called Almuhibbah foundation.
He said the emirate confers tittles on people base on their contributions to the development of the state and country at large.
According to him, Hajiya Aisha grew up in a loving and deeply religious family adding that she has a good personality that can earn her honour.
He urged her to continue with her philanthropic programs in order to alleviate poverty among the most vulnerable members of the society.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of the family of the governor, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri expressed appreciation to the emir for finding Aisha worthy of the title.
He stated that he was not surprised with the honour conferred on her by the emirate considering the programs she initiated which touched the lives of the people of the emirate.
“Her foundation started when her husband was minister of the federal capital territory, Abuja by rebuilding dilapidated graves there and subsequently extended the gesture to all the graveyards across Bauchi state.
“The NGO also extended its scope of activities towards improving the lives of people especially the physically challenged and most vulnerable in the society by providing them with skills and starter packs to be self-reliant”. He said.
The First lady and first Sarauniyar Bauchi while addressing well wishers at a special reception shortly after the turbaning ceremony assured the Emir of being a good ambassador of the emirate.
She assured to come up with robust empowerment programs as part of her interventions for the welfare of youth and women in the state.
The first lady said already she has expanded the scope of the programmes of its Almuhibbah foundation in the area of improving the living standards of people especially the vulnerable groups in the society by providing them with skills and starter packs to be self reliant.
” I am highly delighted to address you at this celebration of my turbaning ceremony as first Sarauniyar Bauchi by the Emir of Bauchi, I want to assure the Emir that I will justify the confidence reposed in me.
” Insha Allah, I will not fail the Emirate and indeed the entire women of Bauchi state because of their support to us.
” The gifs we distributed here is to support the beneficiaries in appreciation for their outstanding contributions towards ensuring the success of our programmes at both Almuhibbah foundation and in my office as first lady.
In appreciation for the honour done to her by the Emir of Bauchi, the1st Sarauniyar Bauchi donated 8 motorcycles and distributed special gifts to selected orphans and vulnerable children.
Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed who described the traditional title as a moral booster, pledged to assist Governor Bala Mohammed to succeed particularly in the area of women and youth empowerment. END
