International Youth Day: Wase Seeks Involvement Of Youth In Governance

Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Rt Hon Ahmed Idris Wase, has called on the Nigeria youth to be actively involved in governance at all levels so as to guarantee effective representation.

Wase said that for the country to move forward, the youth must be given their due place in the overall development of the country.

The statement issued by his chief Press Secretary, Umar Mohammed Puma, noted that the theme of this year’s celebration, ‘Youth Engagement for Global Action’ succinctly captures the call on the government at all levels to pay adequate attention to youth empowerment through education and job creation.

“Every child deserves better education, and we must make it our top priority if we are to make meaningful progress,” he said.

“This year’s celebration is yet another reminder that job creation and overall youth empowerment must be given the needed government attention.”

The Deputy Speaker also commended President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration for initiating programmes and policies aimed at empowering the youth especially in the area of agriculture as well as in small and medium scale enterprises
