Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the sole aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Gombe North Senatorial District, along with Mr. John Jerry Damara, vying for the Gombe South Senatorial District Candidature and Retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Mohammed Ahmed, who is also seeking the party’s ticket for the Gombe Central Senatorial District, have hailed the smooth conduct of the primaries in their constituencies.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the direct primary in his Jekadafari Ward in Gombe, Governor Yahaya said despite being the only aspirant for the post within his party, he chose to be present to witness the turnout and to thank the people for what he described as “overwhelming support” for himself and the party.


According to him, he said had received reports of calm and peaceful proceedings across the state.
The Gombe State Governor said he believed that, God willing, the candidates that would emerged eventually would in turn lead the APC to victory in the 2027 elections across all positions.
He called on the people to abide by the rules of the game, noting that all aspirants in the governorship primary belonged to the APC, while expressing confidence that the governorship contest would also be peaceful.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the APC Senatorial and House of Representatives Primary Election Committee for Gombe State, Mr. Labiru Musa Kafur, commended party members for their orderly conduct and commitment to peaceful democratic engagement.


He described Gombe State as a model for transparent and violence-free political activities, noting that the conduct of party faithful during the exercise demonstrated genuine political maturity and democratic culture in the state.
In a related development, the APC aspirant for the Gombe South Senatorial District, Mr. John Jerry Damara, praised party loyalists and residents of his constituency for their peaceful participation in the exercise.
He made the remarks shortly after the direct primary at Kulishin in Shongom Local Government Area, and also expressed appreciation to party members and supporters for their impressive turnout during the party’s primary election held today.


Mr. Damara further thanked Governor Yahaya for the confidence placed in him and gave assurances that, if elected in the general election, he would justify that trust by working diligently for the development of the people.
The APC senatorial aspirant called on other candidates who had contested in the primary election to close ranks and work together for the overall success of the APC at all levels.
Also speaking, one of the election observers and Chairman of the APC in Gombe State, Mr. Mohammed Dantata Ndus, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise. According to him, the election was peacefully conducted across all wards in the constituency, and he described the process as transparent and credible.
For DCP Mohammed Ahmed, who is aspiring to be the APC Senate Candidate for Gombe Central Senatorial District, thanked God for the success of the primary election across the senatorial district, which he said had been peaceful and calm.
He is happy that Deba axis of the Gombe Central Senatorial District is having the opportunity to vie for the senatorial position in the state, saying the idea of a representation Deba is charging the atmosphere positively.
“You can see even from the breeze, you can see even from the trees that they are happy, not to talk of the human beings. These are things that have gone out of them. Not that they are not entitled, not that they don’t have the right to contest, but probably due to God’s time,” said DCP Ahmed (Rtd.).
